It even allows you to chase a shattered enemy army and be at their rally point before they arrive there. Offensive is also nice to have, since it will boost your damage and forced march will provide a huge advantage in when and where to pick battles. None of your neighbours can compete with your troopcount anyway, so make sure what you have is superior in quality instead of hoarding more quantity. What you really want is defensive, for the huge morale bonus it provides. Quantity is really the one military idea you need least. Omg Ironman mode makes me so TENSE, every tiny move must be throughly calculated

Analyzing the Ottomans, i think it's a good idea to choose Quantity ,religious and naval ideas (historical purpose). I like to choose ideas which stack to my nation's traits.
